GEA Tanker Exposed: Maltese-Flagged Vessel Tied to Alkagesta and Russia’s Expanding Shadow Fleet

The Ukrainian intelligence services have released a new list of ships that have been identified as forming part of Russia’s shadow fleet. Russia’s shadow fleet is involved in a $10 billion per year illegal oil trading business in the Mediterranean Sea.
The ship that has been identified is an oil and chemical tanker called GEA and has called at the Russian ports of Novorossiysk and Tuapse in the Black Sea. The vessel also makes frequent trips to Libya and is currently off the coast of Tunisia.
In September of 2024, the ship was reported to have been carrying a dangerous consignment of ammonium nitrate that was loaded from a Russian port.
The ship is owned by a Maltese-registered company called Ruby Enterprises. The person involved with this company is Emad Ahmad Smeen who is registered to be living in Cyprus. The parent company of Ruby enterprises seems to be Dione Holdings or Dione Enterprises.
