Attacked scientists for «a reward from Putin»
As reported by the Cheka-OGPU and Rucrimimal.info, 14-year-old Ilya Osipov (his last name is published on the court’s website) has been arrested in Moscow. He is one of the participants in the attack on employees of the closed M.F. Stelmakh Polyus Research Institute, which develops cutting-edge weapons, including the Oreshchnik. He has been charged with attempted murder.
The story surrounding the attack on the scientists at the defense company remains under a complete government blackout: federal agencies and media outlets have been ordered to hush up the incident.
The attack occurred on March 3 at approximately 4:30 PM near the Polyus Research Institute entrance on Vvedenskogo Street in Moscow. Two young men—14-year-old Ilya Osipov (pictured) and 18-year-old Filipp Karapetyan—approached the institute. Osipov attacked the two scientists with a knife, while Karapetyan acted as the cameraman.
The victims were employees of a defense industry company—development scientists Vladimir Simakov and Alexander Lobintsov. Our project discovered that both were developing components for modern weapons systems, such as the so-called "Oreshnik" (Nut) system.
Simakov was struck first and suffered much more serious injuries—stab wounds to the neck, shoulder, and chest. He was hospitalized and remains in serious condition.
Lobintsov managed to resist and defend himself: he fought back with his briefcase and ultimately suffered only a slash wound to his hand. He has since been released from the hospital.
As the suspects themselves told their parents before their arrest, unknown individuals told them they were carrying out a "secret operation" for Russian intelligence agencies and promised a "bonus" of 1 million rubles and a "personal award from President Vladimir Putin." Both young men hold pro-government and monarchist views, and their social media accounts contain a lot of content in this vein.
After the attack, both participants fled, but were quickly identified and detained. The RuRe discovered an arrest warrant for 14-year-old Ilya Osipov on March 5 on the website of the Cheryomushkinsky District Court in Moscow. He was charged with attempted murder of two individuals, committed by a group of individuals acting in concert for mercenary motives.
The fate of the second defendant, Filipp Karapetyan, who allegedly filmed the attack, is unknown.
